A basket ships by parcel to a street address, so it cannot go to a PO box, a graveside or a service. What it can do is reach a bedside, a resident's door, a campus mailroom or a hotel front desk, as long as the order names the person the way that place expects. Below, the kinds of places in and around Sandwich that boxes get sent to, how each one receives a parcel, and a local example laid out the way the label should read. For a service itself, the same-day flowers on this page go by hand through the local florist.
Parcels go to the hospital's receiving desk or mailroom and are brought up by staff, so pick a delivery day that lands before the expected discharge. Baked goods, fruit and snack boxes suit a room; nothing that needs a fridge. Where a unit does not allow fresh flowers, a basket or a plant is the surer gift.
Reception signs for the box and staff bring it through, so a weekday delivery reaches the resident faster than a Saturday one. Soft baked goods, fruit and sugar-free boxes are the usual choice.

Campus mailrooms hold parcels for pickup and notify the student, so a text to say a box is on the way helps. Exam weeks and move-in are the busy times; care packages go out two business days ahead.
Also near Sandwich: Cape Cod Community College.

Times are your recipient's local time (Eastern). Flowers and fruit baskets on this page are fulfilled by James Cress Florist (family-run since 1903) through a florist near Sandwich that it has vetted: that shop makes the piece from fresh stock and brings it to the door by hand. *Sundays: the florists in that network deliver only on a few major holidays. In the rare case that no florist near Sandwich can take the order, the full amount is refunded.
Baskets ship 2-day, sooner in some regions, and you pick the delivery day on the calendar at checkout. An order placed by 3:45 PM Eastern can arrive as soon as two days later; the calendar shows the exact days open for your recipient's ZIP code (02563).
Yes. Cape Cod & Islands Community Mental Health Center sits 7 miles out from Sandwich, and the box goes to its street address. Address the box to the patient's full name with the unit or room number and use the hospital's street address. Hospitals take parcels at a receiving desk or mailroom and staff bring them up, so pick a delivery day that lands before the expected discharge; a box that arrives after the patient has left sits in the mailroom until someone claims it. Fresh flowers are not allowed on some units, so for intensive care or oncology a basket or a plant is the surer gift.
Baskets travel by parcel and can wait on a step for an afternoon, so the month decides the contents. Thirty-year averages for Sandwich, month by month, with the ones that matter marked.
October in Sandwich: afternoons around 61°F, nights around 44°F. One of the wettest months here: ask for a covered spot in the delivery note, or ship to the workplace.
Freezing nights (January, February, March and December). The average low reaches 20°F in January. Jams, sauces and fresh fruit should not spend a night outside; offices, senior residences and hospitals all receive indoors.
Wettest months (December and October). Around 5.6 and 5.3 inches of rain on average. Boxes are sealed, not waterproof: a covered porch or a workplace address keeps the packaging presentable.
Weather only matters for the shipped box. The same-day flowers on this page are carried in by a local florist and handed over, whatever the month.
Normals: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information, 1991 to 2020, E Sandwich station, 0.6 miles from Sandwich. Heat: average high 85°F or more. Freezing: average low 32°F or less. Snow: 2 inches or more in the month. Wettest: the two months with the most rain.
