Senior living, hospice, campus & hotel deliveries in Austin

A basket ships by parcel to a street address, so it cannot go to a PO box, a graveside or a service. What it can do is reach a bedside, a resident's door, a campus mailroom or a hotel front desk, as long as the order names the person the way that place expects. Below, the kinds of places in and around Austin that boxes get sent to, how each one receives a parcel, and a local example laid out the way the label should read. For a service itself, the same-day flowers on this page go by hand through the local florist.

Senior living and nursing homes

Reception signs for the box and staff bring it through, so a weekday delivery reaches the resident faster than a Saturday one. Soft baked goods, fruit and sugar-free boxes are the usual choice.

Ship to Resident's name, building or apartment number Sacred Heart Care Center 59 beds1200 12TH Street SouthwestAustin, MN 55912

Also near Austin: Good Samaritan Society - Comforcare and St Marks Living, and 4 more.

Hospice care

Reception signs. Most senders choose something the relatives keeping vigil can share: coffee, tea, cookies, fruit.

Ship to Patient's name, and the family contact if you have one Mayo Clinic Health System - Austin101 14TH St. NwAustin, MN 55912

Colleges and campus mailrooms

Campus mailrooms hold parcels for pickup and notify the student, so a text to say a box is on the way helps. Exam weeks and move-in are the busy times; care packages go out two business days ahead.

Ship to Student's full name, residence hall or mail center, box or room number Riverland Community College Public, 1,000 to 4,999 students1900 8th Ave NWAustin, MN 55912

Hotels

The front desk matches the box to the reservation and hands it over at check-in. Ship for the day the guest arrives or the day before, never for after checkout.

When to ship what to Austin

Baskets travel by parcel and can wait on a step for an afternoon, so the month decides the contents. Thirty-year averages for Austin, month by month, with the ones that matter marked.

  1. Jan 22°5° Freezing
  2. Feb 26°9° Freezing

  12. Dec 28°13° Freezing

October in Austin: afternoons around 58°F, nights around 38°F. Nothing in the forecast averages argues against a doorstep delivery; any basket in the catalog travels well.

Freezing nights (January, February, March, November and December). The average low reaches 5°F in January. Jams, sauces and fresh fruit should not spend a night outside; offices, senior residences and hospitals all receive indoors.

Snow (January, February, March, April, November and December). About 43 inches a year on average. Allow one extra business day when the date matters: a birthday box that ships two days out still lands on time if it leaves three days out.

Wettest months (June and May). Around 5.1 and 5.0 inches of rain on average. Boxes are sealed, not waterproof: a covered porch or a workplace address keeps the packaging presentable.

Weather only matters for the shipped box. The same-day flowers on this page are carried in by a local florist and handed over, whatever the month.

Normals: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information, 1991 to 2020, Austin Waste Wtp Facility station, 2.2 miles from Austin. Heat: average high 85°F or more. Freezing: average low 32°F or less. Snow: 2 inches or more in the month. Wettest: the two months with the most rain.
