Hospital deliveries in Van

A basket ships by parcel to a street address, so it cannot go to a PO box, a graveside or a service. What it can do is reach a bedside, a resident's door, a campus mailroom or a hotel front desk, as long as the order names the person the way that place expects. Below, the kinds of places in and around Van that boxes get sent to, how each one receives a parcel, and a local example laid out the way the label should read.

Hospitals

Parcels go to the hospital's receiving desk or mailroom and are brought up by staff, so pick a delivery day that lands before the expected discharge. Baked goods, fruit and snack boxes suit a room; nothing that needs a fridge.

Good to know

  • Gift baskets ship 2-day, so they are not a same-day gift: for a date that matters, order two business days ahead or more and pick the day at checkout.
  • Add the recipient's phone number at checkout; the carrier uses it if the address needs a second look.
  • Business, hospital and campus addresses: include the department, room or mailbox so the front desk can route it.

Baskets ship 2-day, sooner in some regions, and you pick the delivery day on the calendar at checkout. An order placed by 3:45 PM Eastern can arrive as soon as two days later; the calendar shows the exact days open for your recipient's ZIP code (25206).

Can a basket be shipped to Boone Memorial Hospital?

Yes. Boone Memorial Hospital sits 9 miles out from Van, and the box goes to its street address. Address the box to the patient's full name with the unit or room number and use the hospital's street address. Hospitals take parcels at a receiving desk or mailroom and staff bring them up, so pick a delivery day that lands before the expected discharge; a box that arrives after the patient has left sits in the mailroom until someone claims it.

When to ship what to Van

Baskets travel by parcel and can wait on a step for an afternoon, so the month decides the contents. Thirty-year averages for Van, month by month, with the ones that matter marked.

October in Van: afternoons around 70°F, nights around 44°F. Nothing in the forecast averages argues against a doorstep delivery; any basket in the catalog travels well.

Heat (July and August). Afternoons average 85°F or more, peaking near 87°F in July. Send chocolate, cheese and fresh fruit to a workplace or a front desk in these months; baked goods, nuts, coffee, tea and spa baskets can take a doorstep drop.

Freezing nights (January, February and December). The average low reaches 25°F in January. Jams, sauces and fresh fruit should not spend a night outside; offices, senior residences and hospitals all receive indoors.

Snow (January, February, March and December). About 17 inches a year on average. Allow one extra business day when the date matters: a birthday box that ships two days out still lands on time if it leaves three days out.

Wettest months (July and May). Around 5.4 and 5.4 inches of rain on average. Boxes are sealed, not waterproof: a covered porch or a workplace address keeps the packaging presentable.

Normals: NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information, 1991 to 2020, Madison 3nnw station, 12.9 miles from Van. Heat: average high 85°F or more. Freezing: average low 32°F or less. Snow: 2 inches or more in the month. Wettest: the two months with the most rain.
